"Hey!"

Answering laughter bursts out of Windy, and in a flash he's chasing. It's just like old times, before the rift, before things had been too much; for a moment he merely stays with Foot, neck and neck, watching him and watching the ball. Fond and chest feeling like it could burst.

Oh, he loves this mech. He thinks he forgot just how much.

And then he grins, and dives low for the ball.

It's easy. It's so, so easy to fall back into habits his frame remembers even if his mind does not. He trained with Windy for years. He knows his moves. He knows the tell tale sound of his pistons when he goes to jump, or goes to dive. He can practically hear the calculations being made.

Few things in Foot's life make sense. Windy makes perfect sense.

He kicks the ball up and jumps, dodging the dive. He can't help his laugh as he does so, pausing to bounce the ball on his knee while Windy gets back up.

"Still using the same tactics, Windy?" he teases. "You don't need to go easy on me."

"Maybe I was just testing your memory!"

And just like that, Windy is back in the fray. Just like it's easy to understand Windy, for Windy to fit into Foot's world, it's so easy for Foot to fit into his. He's nearly teasing as he makes passes for the ball at first, half-realized things that are just fake outs, until he finally tries to sideswipe it.

Laughing. The both of them, together, on the field again. Partners, not enemies. It just felt right.
